In Episode 2 of INVEST IN YOUR CULTURE, we cover a wide range of topics shaping the conversation around politics, faith, hip-hop, protest culture and even food.
The goal of the show is simple: look past the surface, question what we are being shown, and have conversations about the forces influencing our culture.
One of the biggest topics in this episode is Elon Musk responding after a content creator described him as a military target. In a time when political and cultural disagreements are becoming more aggressive, we discuss what happens when online rhetoric crosses the line from criticism into language that can be interpreted as a threat.
We also take another look at President Trump’s use of the National Guard in Washington, D.C. Instead of only focusing on the controversy surrounding the decision, we ask a more important question: Was it actually effective?
Did the presence of the National Guard improve public safety? Did it create a meaningful change in crime or security, or was the deployment more political than practical? The episode examines the difference between headlines, political messaging and real-world results.
Another major conversation centers around Santería and its influence within hip-hop culture.
Spiritual symbolism has always existed in music, but certain religious practices, rituals and imagery have become increasingly visible in entertainment. We discuss what Santería actually represents, why some artists may be attracted to it, and why Christians should pay attention to the spiritual messages being normalized through popular culture.
That leads into a larger conversation about why Christians need to speak up in today’s culture.
Remaining silent does not make cultural or spiritual issues disappear. If Christians believe certain ideas are harmful, misleading or spiritually dangerous, there has to be a willingness to respectfully explain those beliefs instead of allowing entertainment, social media and popular opinion to become the only voices shaping the conversation.
We also ask a question that comes up almost every time a major protest movement gains national attention:
Are protests funded?
Organized movements require transportation, advertising, staff, equipment, legal assistance and communication. That does not automatically mean every protest is fake or that every participant is being paid. But understanding who finances organizations, campaigns and political movements can provide important context about how modern activism operates.
And somehow, after talking about politics, protests, religion and hip-hop, we end the episode with something completely different:
Michelin-style pancakes.
Because culture is more than politics.
It’s also what we eat, what we listen to, what we believe, how we live and what we pass down to the next generation.
That’s what INVEST IN YOUR CULTURE is ultimately about.
The show isn’t designed to tell you exactly what to think. It’s about encouraging people to investigate deeper, question the daily program and develop a stronger understanding of the world around them.
Episode 2 topics include Elon Musk, political threats, Trump’s National Guard deployment in Washington, D.C., protest funding, Santería in hip-hop, Christianity in modern culture and Michelin-inspired pancakes.
